The actual move is over now, thank goodness. Then of course there was the fun stuff like discovering that I'm super sensitive to the leftover cat dander in the house (but the cat was SO cute!) and there was a plumbing problem the first week here. Of course.
Fine. Whatever.
I now have a new desk. A real desk. (Not a crappy old drafting table with a cloth over it that I've been using for years and bashing my knee on the sharp metal bits). At least 20% of my office things are arranged. (Including one laptop that might survive another few weeks if I'm extremely lucky. Yikes.) I need a new chair, and a full day of organization to clear the boxes and make sense of things, but there's some progress every week.
This new location was chosen on February 28th. So I had no idea what the front garden looked like. Imagine my delight when these peachy orange roses appeared just outside my office window! There are deeper blood red fluffier roses (or something similar) at the side, and a scarlet maple out front.
Folks, I'm LOVING IT!
Sure, I'm WAY behind on work because I've been sick and exhausted and unable to sleep very well, and things are so much slower when you can't find anything. But wow... I have a new desk and flowers that remind me of my great Aunt's garden.
I'm so very, very grateful.
Hopefully this will keep me energized so that I can catch up on the writing... especially since my editor and I just had to schedule in time slots for the rest of the books I'm writing this year.
It's a lot.
I hope those roses have some sort of magic focus power, because I'm really going to need it.
