Strangely, I'm writing three free books this month. It's slowing down the start of my summer series. But I do want to make it worth someone's while to sign up for my email newsletter. We're all bombarded by so many things these days, with endless newsletter subscriptions. If someone takes the time to sign up for my list, I want them to get two free books. I also want to make one book permanently free on other book sites, so that people will hopefully find me.
It's one of those little tricks of indie writers - we have zero advertising budget, so we have to work harder, and find other ways to promote. Where there's a will, there's a way. Or so they say.
I know I shouldn't be jumping back and forth between three different projects, but my focus is all over the place lately. I just read an article that explained why it's so hard to focus when you're stressed. When the brain is being overloaded, it goes back to the most primitive survival functions. Water, food, rest, sleep. Anything beyond that, the prefrontal cortex just doesn't give a darn. It keeps wanting to check on the basics.
Fine. So, in the midst of all of this stress, I'm fighting nature. Take that, higher brain function! I'm publishing something this week no matter what you say!
Um, is it weird to have conversations with your own brain? Whatever. As long as I'm still working!
