Okay, I've been rambling a lot about my big move this past spring. It's a huge deal to me because I honestly didn't think I'd be moving for at least 10 years. But circumstances change, the world changes, and we have to change along with it.
In my previous home, my bedroom window opened onto the siding of the next-door neighbor's house just 4 feet away. Not much of a view.
The photo above was taken from my new bedroom window in the murky mist this morning. Yes, that's the first few leaves beginning to turn!
Of course, nothing can be total paradise… There were workmen coming and going yesterday, which messed up my writing flow. I don't know what time they'll be coming back today. And at some point in the next few weeks, the front of the house is going to be torn up to fix some plumbing.
Ugh. Chaos completely saps my focus.
Fine. I'll deal. Just breathe.
This will give me an opportunity to go write in the library, or some coffee shops. Whatever.
Right now I'm working on a series about volunteer firefighters, and of course they meet artsy, quirky girls. I love writing those.
I think it's pretty obvious that I like to think of myself as an artsy, quirky girl. I used to draw and paint a lot. Plus photography and video experiments. Live projection stuff. I've designed four tattoos for different people. So a tiny drop of my own experiences go into every character. Or, they're based on some of the incredible people I've met. Luckily, I'll be meeting a bunch of brand new small city/town people here.
Was it a sign that I started writing about smaller towns and cities a year and a half before I moved to one? Who knows.
But I did buy new fire extinguishers for this place before I started writing about the fireman!
