Writing in the Heat

Writing in the Heat

I'd like to start this blog post by personally thanking Philip Diehl, the inventor of the ceiling fan.

Some people think that all of Canada is ice and snow, but Toronto is actually farther south than all of North Dakota and Montana. It's in line with the southmost edge of Minnesota. So when it hits 29°C and feels like 36°C with the humidex, that is 96.8°F. Which is officially pretty hot, in my books. It's going to be even higher next month.

You know how the heat makes it a little hard to focus sometimes? Add in the overall stress of the planet right now, and it's been a wacky few weeks. So my summer series will be launching in July instead of late June. It's only a two week delay.

Meanwhile, I've finished Checking Every Box and Checked Every Box, and the bonus freebie Outside the Spotlight (about Dave, the band manager from Heart Shaped Spotlight) will be online in a day or two. If you're on the email list, you'll be sent links.

I'm busy blocking out all five Summer Love books, and also a secret little project that is a bit outside of my usual genre. It's an anthology with a few other writers. It's an absolute blast so far, and I can't wait to really dig into it!

That is, after I have another orange sparkling water over ice. With that, my calm music, and my ceiling fan, I have great faith that I'll be able to catch up on this crazy To Do List, no matter what temperature it hits.
